Sylvia Sykes is considered by most to be the leading authority on Balboa, and has won countless competitions and championships. She is very much in demand throughout the world as an international dance instructor, competition judge and choreographer.
Sylvia studied Balboa with many of the dance greats long before modern swing dance communities had heard of this fabulous dance, and is directly responsible reviving Balboa, which is now rapidly gaining popularity around the world.
We are thrilled to welcome back Marty Lau for the fourth time since 2015, always receiving fabulous reviews. Marty rarely teaches outside the USA due to family commitments, only teaching at a handful of prestigious Balboa events in Europe, so we feel especially fortunate that he will be teaching again at our next event.
Shani Brown is honoured to have honed her social dance skills and footwork under the guidance of legendary dancers Willie Desatoff, Hal and Marge Takier, Bart Bartolo, Jack Carey, as well as Dean Raftery and many others.
Jacob Wigger started swing dancing in 2003 and has been hooked ever since, with his first love being social dancing. As a teacher he uses a mix of humorous (in his opinion) analogies and serious instruction to create a fun and exciting learning environment.
Andreas has taught for us on many occasions, teaching with Jenn at BalBreak 2016. We welcome them both back by popular demand.
Andreas and Jennifer have an emphasis on creativity and positive interactions in the classroom. They care about creating partnership between two dancers and allowing a conversation between lead and follow. They have a great eye for technical detail, but above all they love social dancing and are often the last dancers to leave the dance floor....
